About
One of the long-term goals of the plant ER UPRome DB is to generate a reference map of the plant protein-protein interactions and ER to nucleus signaling networks that are attributed to the unfolded protein response. These signaling networks overlap with cellular defenses to biotic and abiotic stress. This DB provides links to plant genome databases to provide researchers with the direct links to genes and proteins across plant species that have been identified as factors contributing to the unfolded protein response gene network. Many of these genes overlap with plant translation, protein turnover, immunity, autophagy, and cell death regulation. We have found that interrogating various plant genome databases to identify orthologues can be challenging and so this DB was created to provide current information about the interaction networks across some of the most well studied plant genomes. We are starting with the Arabidopsis, soybean, rice, maize, potato, and tomato genomes, and hope to expand to more genomes in the future. The Box in the Interactive Viewer lists “Targeted Gene Regulation” meaning these are genes whose expression is known to be upregulated by AtbZIP60, AtbZIP28, and AtbZIP17. This list will be expanded as we learn more promoter targets for these and other transcription factors that are linked to the ER UProme.
